The Terrible old man

The terrible old man is a short story written by H.P Lovecraft and I really enjoyed reading this piece of text. The story begins telling us how an old man lives in a run down town and is kept anonymous but has a peculiar habit of talking to bottles with metal in them. When he speaks to these bottles, they send vibrations and the old man feels more comfortable. Towards the end, the old man is depicted as a grumpy, antisocial figure until some men knock on his door and discover that he is blind. I believe this story is very good as it teaches the reader a moral such as never judging a book by its cover and raises awareness of the struggles for people with disabilities that have to suffer. This text is structured really nicely and has a gripping plot twist at the end with me wanting more. The author uses various language features and a range of vocabulary to describe how the terrible old man is seen by others throughout the town.
